[cobirds] Pueblo CBC 12/23

Hi all,

12 birders helped with today's Pueblo CBC.  The forecast of high winds were lacking until 11am.  There was pretty much no wind, until then.  The Pueblo CBC has reached the 100 species mark two previous times (with 108 species and 106 species).  Today's total species is at least 109 species, a new record!!  This circle has some private access locations, that we are very lucky to have been able to bird today.  Those locations, as usual produced some of the better birds in the circle today.  The major bodies of water in the circle, was totally free of ice, which helped with waterfowl numbers.

Thanks to all the helpers, most from Pueblo or Pueblo West, though also Canon City, Rye, and Colorado Springs.  This count isn't as exciting as the Pueblo Reservoir CBC, though it still one of the better count circles in the state.

One bird that I found on public lands, was a male PINE WARBLER at Runyon Lake.  It was first just east of the restroom in the parking lot on the north side of the lake, and then it moved along the creek north of this location.  It was first alone, and then it seemed to be hanging out with a group of juncos.

Thanks again to all my counters,

Brandon Percival
