[cobirds] Prewitt Reservoir (Washington County)

John Vanderpoel and I went east this afternoon and made it to Prewitt Reservoir in the early evening.  Water levels are low, but I’ve seen them lower in some years past.  The cooler temps today made the hike over the 0.5 miles + of dried mud that’s necessary to get close to the water quite pleasant.

In any event, hundreds of shorebirds were present, probably over 2,000 total with the large majority being Baird’s Sandpipers.  All told we had 11 species with one Short-billed Dowitcher being the most unusual.  Also observed were a Peregrine Falcon and an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull.
