[cobirds] Prewitt, late post

Sorry for the tardy post- went out to Prewitt Thursday to see if there was a migration taking place.  There wasn't- not songbird, anyway.  The Logan County end of the reservoir was completely dead except for the usual red-headed woodpeckers and good numbers of eastern and western kingbirds.  Near the outlet canal there were many swallows, including a large flock of bank.  However, not a single warbler, vireo or flycatcher (outside of the kingbirds).  Results around the inlet (dry of course) were similar.  The only decent action was shorebird, and that wasn't bad.  The best numbers were concentrated around the remaining "finger" of water at the southwest corner, reached by walking out from the boat launch.  Here there were hundreds of Baird's, dozens of least, a dozen or so stilt sandpipers, and three marbled godwit.  The only unusual birds were a couple of dunlin.  There were around 200 Franklin's gulls but no "white" terns at all.  Two black terns were hanging around with the gulls.

Jackson was no better, with thousands of white pelicans, a couple dozen white-faced ibis (lots of juveniles) and not much else. I dropped past Loloff and that was pretty good- a lot of Wilsons' Phalaropes (too far away to pick out any rednecks), 35 black-necked stilts and a few avocets working their way into their basic plumage.  As previously reported, Latham was pretty dry and pretty birdless.
