[cobirds] Chico Basin Ranch Banding Station Report-Bird Conservancy of the Rockies-September 26, 2026

A crisp morning at the banding station. There were a few Wilson's Warblers flitting about but none got into the mist nets. The only warbler species we caught today were Yellow-rumps. We did catch a nice Townsend's Solitaire and a Green-tailed Towhee.

17 New Banded Birds

Myrtle (Yellow-rumped) Warbler- 1

Audubon's (Yellow-rumped) Warbler- 2

Myrtle X Audubon's (Yellow-rumped) Warbler- 1

Red-breasted Nuthatch-1

Oregon (Dark-eyed) Junco- 2

Lincoln's Sparrow- 1

Green-tailed Towhee- 1

Swainson's Thrush- 1

Hermit Thrush- 5

Townsend's Solitaire- 1

American Robin- 1

2 Recaptures - banded earlier this season

Swainson's Thrush- gained almost 3 grams since last captured

Gray Catbird- gained 2.5 grams since last captured.

The Banding station will be closed tomorrow and open on Monday at sunrise until around noon. Birding areas are open tomorrow on the ranch. Please register online at www.aikenaudubon.com.
