[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies - Barr Lake Banding Report, 9/13/26

Okay, here is the report for today, Sunday.

Forgot to mention yesterday how nice and cool it was.  We catch more birds on those days because the birds are more likely to be out and active then.  Plus, on the hottest days we are closing some/many/all nets early which also reduces the numbers caught.  So only 75 birds caught today (which in most seasons would seem like a big day!)  Wilson's Warblers still led the numbers but we have a good mix of species for our weekend visitors:

Western Flycatcher 1

Hammond's Flycatcher 1

Dusky Flycatcher 1

Warbling Vireo 1 (called it "unidentified", but it measured as a Western)

Hermit Thrush 1

Orange-crowned Warbler 1

Yellow Warbler 3

Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon's 2

Yellow-rumped Warbler, unidentified subspecies 1

Townsend's Warbler 4

Common Yellowthroat 3

Wilson's Warbler 43

Spotted Towhee 1

Green-tailed Towhee 2

Chipping Sparrow 1

Clay-colored Sparrow 1

Song Sparrow 2

Lincoln's Sparrow 3

White-crowned Sparrow, Gambel's 2

White-crowned Sparrow, Mountain 1

We are open Tuesday through Sunday, weather permitting, through October 23.  Most weekday mornings there is a visitor session from 7:30 to 8:30, and on the weekends there are sessions at 8, 9 and 10 a.m.  Reservations are needed; here is the link.   Please join us......It is a great year to visit Barr!
