[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies-Chico Basin Ranch 9/7/2023

Each day is a mystery as to what birds or if many birds will appear in the nets or around the banding station proper. Very quiet today- the hummingbirds were active after about 8 AM today. Yesterday hummingbirds were not active until after 9- 10AM. A couple net checks with zero to 2 birds and then the migrants overnight must have dropped into the olive grove around 7:30. The day heated up quick so birds quieted down @ 10 AM. We did catch 15 bird species today.

50 New Birds Banded

Wilson's Warbler- 20

Orange-crowned Warbler- 1

MacGillivray's Warbler- 3

Western Flycatcher- 1

House Wren- 3

Red-breasted Nuthatch- 1

Chipping Sparrow- 4

Lincoln's Sparrow- 2

Lazuli Bunting- 1

Swainson's Thrush- 2

Yellow-breasted Chat- 1

Green- tailed Towhee- 4

Western Tanager- 4

Gray Catbird- 2

Brown Thrasher- 1

No Recaptures

The Banding Station will be open tomorrow and Saturday from Sunrise to around 11:30 AM. It looks to be another couple warm days so we will probably be closing a little early these next couple days. Stop by and visit the banding station if you are in the area. Have a good day!
