[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies - Barr Banding Report 9/17/23

This is a late report on our Sunday (9/18) activity.  (Today, Monday, is our day off.)

After our biggish day on Saturday, we were back down in the teens on Sunday.  Only 19 new birds banded, but one of those was pretty interesting and exciting.  It was a hatch year warbler that we could not identify.  We searched Pyle (the banders guide) and Sibley's, then Susan Rosine tried Merlin (the Photo ID, not the Sound); Merlin suggested it was a Townsend's or a Yellow-rumped, which led us to looking for Townsend/Yellow-rumped hybrids, and.......voila!  See e-Bird entries of other TOWA/YRWA hybrids here: https://ebird.org/species/x00624?siteLanguage=en_ZA  See Susan's photos of our bird, along with a few of our bird and a full Townsend's caught at the same time for comparison, here: https://link.edgepilot.com/s/8f97ba31/8xUY0uCIUEafeghMeUc05A?u=https://ebird.org/checklist/S150151596

Here are the 19 new birds from Sunday:

Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon's 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler, unidentified 2
Townsend's Warbler 1
Townsend's/Yellow-rumped Warbler hybrid 1
Wilson's Warbler 8
Green-tailed Towhee 1
Lincoln's Sparrow 4
