Just saw the additional photos of this bird on the Birding Colorado Facebook page, and there the appearance of a pale collar is more evident, so I now see why the hybrid theory is being proposed. One question is which Streptopelia species would be the other parent, and would this be a first generation hybrid, or a second generation back cross with Mourning Dove. Interesting bird.
