It was cool, gloomy, wet, drizzly, and breezy today… in other words - PERFECT conditions for banding at Clear Spring Ranch! I had a good start at opening, then a big wave of migrants arrived about 8:30-9:00.
73 birds today - 45 of those Chipping Sparrows, but also many warblers - Wilson's, Orange-crowned, Myrtle YR, a RC Kinglet, and a good assortment of other sparrows. But the highlight today was an adult male Dickcissel, FOS, and only my second ever at CSR (8/2016). Very cool bird in the hand.
It was pretty dark for photos, and the birds wasn't very cooperative, but I have a few if anybody is interested.
Happy Migration,
Steve Brown
