Banding was relatively slow this morning at Clear Spring Ranch, but migration was booming. 22 birds eventually banded today.
Between 8:00 and 8:45, while the darkening cloud cover was moving North, 62 Turkey Vultures went by low to the South using the surface winds. There were three kettles of 10-12, and many ones and twos zooming down the Fountain Creek corridor. Another handful went by about 9:30. (66 total that I saw). Also seen were an Osprey, 3 Swainson's Hawks, a Red-tail, a Cooper's Hawk, and several more waves of Blue Jays, at least 65 total moving South. It was fun doing a hawkwatch down on the flat!
