I annually say to myself that "May 15 is the peak of spring migration". Whether or not it is actually true - it worked today. I had my busiest day of the spring at Clear Spring Ranch banding with 36 birds, especially a substantial arrival of Lincoln's Sparrows, Lazuli Buntings, and Yellow Warblers. Activity died down significantly by about 8:30, but a few late arrivals found the net later.
The star of the day was a second-year, sex unknown Western Palm Warbler (photo below). This was my first at CSR, and again, the first I've seen in CO for a while. (I only saw 5 at CBR between 2007-2012). Also had my third N Waterthrush of the season, an adult bird.
Happy Migration!
