Early this evening a stop at Mann Reservoir in South Valley Park (a newly designated eBird hot spot) and the adjacent parking lot for the park produced some snow birds: a Cassin's Kingbird hunkered with two Western Kingbirds, a male Lark Bunting along South Valley Road, 2 American Pipits (an oddity there), Gray-headed Junco (seasonally odd at this location) plus Vesper and Chipping Sparrows, Mountain Bluebird, Western Bluebird and a small pile of Am. Robins. Another Vesper, Chipping and 5 Western Bluebirds were near my home, foraging along the road edge.
-- The DFO field trip scheduled for tomorrow to Deer Creek Canyon is still on and spaces have opened up. We meet at 6:30 am at the intersection of South Wadsworth and Deer Creek Rd. Park on the north side of Deer Creek Rd which is just south of C-470. Participants should register in advance by this evening. Visit here:
The original plan of going up the canyon will likely be adjusted due to weather, but I am hopeful for some interesting encounters with migrants due to the snow, provided the weather conditions allow for actual viewing.
