[cobirds] Common Loon, White Pelicans and more: Roaring Fork Tuesday

Hi all

 

Tom and Kay gave me a ride up to Ruedi Reservoir this cold and snowy morning. Thanks guys!

 

Highlights included

 

Ruedi Resr inlet area (Pitkin)

3 American White Pelicans

3 Willet

1 Semipalmated Plover

27 Franklin's Gulls

14 Western Grebes

3 Common Mergansers

 

Ruedi resr near the dam (Eagle)

10 Cinnamon Teal

Sev Gadwall

Sev N.Shovelers

 

Spring Park Resr (Eagle)

2 Sandhill Cranes

10+Barrow's Goldeneyes

1 Common Loon

50+White-faced Ibis

1 adult Bald Eagle

2 Lewis's Woodpeckers

 

Nearby, an adult Golden Eagle stooped over our heads onto the Crawford's Elk Pasture in El Jebel and nailed a duck sized bird

Also 2 Lewis's Woodpeckers in El Jebel

 

Tom and Kay saw other birds in Garfield before picking me up, including a Black-necked Stilt at Spring Valley.

 

Back home our FOS Gambel's White-crowned Sparrow is in the yard as I write this afternoon
