I banded a second-year Bewick's Wren at Clear Spring Ranch today. This was my first one banded, and I had only seen two others banded in Colorado, both at Chico Basin Ranch, May 2008, and April 2010. Photo below.
Also arriving were numerous Gray Catbirds (two banded May 2015, one banded 2014!), a couple Brown Thrashers (one banded as an adult in 2014), 5 more Mountain White-crowned Sparrows (now 16, twice as many as any other previous season), another adult W Wood-pewee, and another adult Dusky Flycatcher.
Also netted (but not banded) was a gorgeous male Black-chinned Hummingbird.
Toral 23 birds today.
Have a birdy weekend,
Steve Brown
