We have observed a feral Muscovy Duck at Prospect Lake in Colorado Springs for over a year. This last summer the bird crossbred and raised a brood of six strange-looking ducks that possibly show a Mallard influence. The feral Muscovy mother and her brood left the lake toward the end of the summer and recently returned. What does it take to have a bird count as an established feral species? eBird confirmed a sighting of this duck earlier this summer.
