COBirders,
Linda Hodges, Charles Kiskiras, and I did a prairie Drennan-Milne-Hanover loop on Sat AM. The flowers were stunning, and birds were great.
Highlights include lots of Grasshopper Sparrows on Drennan and Milne south of Drennan. With more sand sage and cholla (full bloom), lots of Sage Thrashers and Cassin’s, Brewer’s, Lark Sparrows. A singing Dickcissel and Burrowing Owl family (6) on Milne were about 1 km south of Squirrel Creek Rd. Dickcissel at overgrown lot on west side of road at large white sign “acres for sale.” 3 eastern kingbirds.
Orchard Oriole (male) was busily feeding in tall weeds right along Hanover Rd. about 50-75 meters west of Williams Ck. Back-and-forth to cottonwood/willow cluster 30 m north of road – nestlings? A bit further west on Hanover, another Dickcissel was at field near willow/cottonwood before where Hanover goes from NW-SE to E-W (closer to I-25). Lots of other great regulars bird-wise (keep eyes/ears peeled for yb cuckoo…..)

Colorado Springs
P.S. All 4 regular hummers back at feeder on west side of town …..
