Lagerman Reservoir near Longmont was unusually busy early this morning and must have had some fish that the birds like. Several hundred Mergansers (3 species, but mostly Common) and several hundred gulls were actively feeding when I arrived. I photographed a second winter ICELAND/THAYER'S GULL that I will need to study a little more before deciding on ID. A male WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was present initially; I couldn't find the scoter later, so it might have departed when the Cackling and Canada Geese did. A couple of Bald Eagles were causing the occasional ruckus.
Other gull highlights included 4 Thayer's Gulls (2 ad, 2 juv) and 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull (juv).
