Growing up in Chicago, where both GW and BW Warblers bred, sometimes separately, sometimes close to each other... I often heard both species give atypical songs. Indeed, we'd never ID the bird on song alone, and at that time, hybrids (phenotypic hybrids) were still rare... rare enough to cause excitement.
