[cobirds] Eastern County Boulder County varia, Flather's Day Weekend

Hello, Birders.

Early this Sunday morning, Father's Day, June 15th:

Near the White Rocks Crossing, Boulder Creek, Boulder County, 1 singing Brewer's Sparrow; 1 Willow Flycatcher near the creek, in the same place where there's been one for several summers; 3 Orchard Orioles; 3 Eastern Warbling-Vireos; also 2 Wood Ducks, 1 Ring-necked Pheasant; 1 Great Egret, and 1 Bald Eagle. Teller Lake No. 5 had several family groups of Pied-billed Grebes and American Coots, plus a trio of adult Ring-necked Ducks, uncommon in summer in Boulder County.

The night before, Flag Day, Saturday, June 14th:

Hannah and Andrew and I did the Teller-to-White-Rocks run, Boulder County, but with an only semi-birding agenda. We found a few fireflies, a raccoon, and a splendid, white-hot meteor at around 9:53 p.m. And a few birds: snipes, Great Horned Owls, nighthawks, and night-singing chats and Lark Sparrows. We had an excellent encounter with a family group of coyotes, and got this recording:

This Sunday afternoon, June 15th:

At Walden Ponds, Boulder County, with Hannah and Andrew and Mireku Abankwah, a tardy or wandering adult Forster's Tern. Not much else, really, but always pleasant to amble around there on an early-summer afternoon, what with all the Ospreys, pelicans, Eastern Warbling-Vireos (n=3), avocets (including several fuzzball babies), Cheddar Waxwings, and such.

Yesterday afternoon, June 14th:

Around Greenlee Preserve, Boulder County, an adult male Black-chinned Hummingbird continuing; the Bushtits, teenagers now, have nice blackish "ears" (I see that a fair bit in juveniles in Colorado); and a pair of waxwings have been hanging around (are they nesting?).
