[cobirds] Some NE Colorado birds (fide, John Vanderpoel)

John Vanderpoel asked me to report a few things he found birding around NE Colorado today.  He has been wandering through Logan and Sedgwick Counties and on to Lake McConaughy in Nebraska—scouting for a couple of field trips that he will be leading at the CFO Convention in Sterling, CO August 28-Sept. 1 (see http://cfobirds.org/convention/2014/index.htm for more information.)

Now that the shameless promotion of the CFO convention is out of the way, here are some great birds that John wanted reported to Cobirds:

Dickcissel at a usual spot of CR 71 and US 138 west of Crook; Field Sparrow at Tamarack Ponds and Bell’s Vireo in the hedgerows of Red Lion SWR along CR 95 (all in Logan).

More unusual was a Pacific Loon in basic plumage in the middle of Jumbo Reservoir seen west of the point extending into the middle of the Reservoir from the south.
