Hi, all. More than a dozen birders turned out for the Aiken Audubon Society
field trip today to Turkey Creek Recreation area at Fort Carson in El Paso
County. We had a total of 45 species, most being the expected ones for TCR.
The big miss again was NO Lewis's Woodpeckers.
The highlights were on nests. We got to see a pair of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers
at their nest site and a Broad-tailed Hummingbird sitting on a nest. Later
in the morning we saw a Western Bluebird going in and out of a nesting
cavity. A new bird for me at TCR was a Juniper Titmouse that was the first
bird we saw when we got out of our cars.
Lots of fun.
