[cobirds] RMBO Barr Banding Report, Sunday, 9/7/13

I call it the curse of the big event……we’ve been catching 40-something birds each day recently, then we hit an activity like Barr Lake’s Fall Birding Fest and the number drops to less than half that.  Many more visitors than birds.  We even opened the nets at the feeders at the Nature Center so we could fill in with “backyard birds”  (today that meant House Sparrows) during the really slow periods.  If you eliminate the HOSPs, we caught only 12 new birds today:

House Wren       3

Gray Catbird       1

Orange-crowned Warbler            2 (FOS)

Common Yellowthroat  2

Wilson’s Warbler              4

We have now scheduled our days’ off for the balance of the season – Mon (9/9), Fri (9/20), Tues (9/24), Fri (10/4) and Mon (10/7) and they are listed on the RMBO website at http://rmbo.org/v3/OurWork/Education/BirdBanding.aspx.  (I will continue to post the days at the bottom of my daily reports.)
