HI COBirders,
We expected to see a bird turnover today after all of the rainy days and nights, and that happened. Birds of the day were warblers and thrushes. We banded about 130 birds today (full report to follow), but unlike last week, only a few were sparrows. Most were Wilson's Warblers, with a few Orange-crowned, Yellow, MacGillivray's, and even a TENNESSEE WARBLER and an OVENBIRD banded.
Also many Swainson's and Hermit Thrush, ones we don't see much in the fall. We caught a couple each of Brewer's, Clay-colored, and Chipping Sparrows, and our FOS Mtn White-crowned Sparrow.
Other birds of interest banded include 2 Cassin's Vireos and a Red-eyed Vireo. Seen but not banded was another Black-and-White Warbler in the grove. There were a lot of birds around, and weather permitting, we may try to catch the rest of them tomorrow!
