Happy Thanksgiving all,
I saw 1, Juvenile/1st winter, White-winged Scoter at Marston Reservoir today in the afternoon. The bird was by itself swimming in the south part of the lake going south. The bird could be seen from Bow Mar Dr. and from the west side of the lake, at the southern end of the lake from the southern housing development which borders Marston Reservoir. 12, Horned Grebes, 6 Western Grebes, 3, Pied-billed Grebes, 12 Common Goldeneye, 6 Hooded Mergansers, and around 500 or more Common Mergansers, and 1, Common Loon, plus the other usual water birds were present.
I also saw 4, adult Greater White-fronted Geese at Fort Logan Cemetary. There are hoards of Canada Geese, coming and going from the 2 lakes. The White-fronted Geese were at the second pond which is east from the pond at the MAIN entrance to the Cemetary, off of S. Sheridan Rd. These birds may be hard to find since they are with so many other Geese and since they are most likely migrating.
