Dick Schottler and I ran the mountain lakes loop. Many waterbirds have left
(except for American Coot and Bufflehead). Weather "up north" is still too
nice with Idaho and Montana still having highs in the 50s and lows just shy
of freezing. Thus, I think no real movement of waterfowl into Colorado.
Water open on: Eleven Mile, Spinney Mountain, Ice Pond, Clear Creek Lake,
Twin Lakes, Mt Elbert Forebay, Turquoise and Dillon Reservoirs.
Water 99+% frozen on Antero Reservoir (very shallow).
Best birds were:
Ice Pond - Buena Vista
Barrow's Goldeneye - 25
Frisco - Dillon Reservoir Marina
Barrow's Goldeneye - 15
Surf Scoter - 1 adult male!
