[cobirds] Huerfano County Update: Merlin, American White Pelicans, Bushtits

A very blustery, windy day here in Huerfano County. Hoping the change in weather might bring in some interesting birds for tomorrow's schedule AVAS trip to Lathrop State Park!

In the backyard this morning were:

3 Spotted Towhees
Song Sparrow
Evening Grosbeaks
5 Blue Jays
A lone Stellar's Jay
Black-billed Magpies
Red-winged Blackbirds
European Starlings
Dark-eyed Juncos - our partial leucistic we named "Stripe" last year is back!
Common Grackles
Downy Woodpecker
Hairy Woodpecker
White-breasted Nuthatch
Black-capped Chickadee
Mountain Chickadee
Lesser Goldfinch
American Goldfinch
American Robins
Eurasian Collared-Doves
Cedar Waxwings - just a quick "fly through"
Sharp-shinned Hawk flew through...scattering everything
Red-tailed Hawk - high in the sky

Yesterday at Lathrop State Park and surrounding areas:
3 American White Pelicans -when I first saw the "big white lumps" on the lake could not help hoping for swans...but alas they shape-shifted as I got closer...
Red-tailed Hawk
Hundreds of American Robins- by far the most numerous species
100 or so Mountain Bluebirds
Many many Townsend's Solitaires
1 Yellow-rumped Warbler
Several American Tree Sparrows
A lone (late?) Lark Sparrow
1 Belted Kingfisher
Hundreds of Clark's/Western Grebes (too far away for much detail)
American Wigeons
Mallards
American Coots
1 Double-crested Cormorant
A few Ring-billed Gulls
Ruddy Ducks
Buffleheads
Ring-necked Ducks
Redheads
Canada Geese
Horned Grebes
Eared Grebes
Pied-billed Grebes
Merlin (the second time I have seen one out there in the past week - a new Huerfano County bird for me!)
Bushtitis
Black-capped Chickadees
Western Scrub-Jay
American Crows
Common Ravens
