[cobirds] Rufous Hummer, NW Colorado (Moffat County)

Hello birders,

I thought it might be worth mentioning that today at our hummingbird feeder at Elkhead Reservoir State Park (45 minute west of Steamboat Springs), in Moffat County, I had a male Rufous Hummingbird visit a few times. I looked on eBird, and it appears that this species is not too common around here this time of year....? Or perhaps simply that is because the area is underbirded....At any rate, the hummingbirds we have had prior to this at the feeder, and granted, I only work two days a week up at Elkhead, have been Broad-tailed.

Other fun birds over the past week or so include two Forster's Terns, also at the Reservoir. Otherwise, nothing out of the ordinary to report--lots of W. Kingbirds here at Yampa River State Park campground, and a very noisy family of American Kestrels.

Good birding,

Holly Reinhard
Hayden, Routt County, CO (formerly Corvallis, Oregon)
