[cobirds] Snipe foraging behavior

From the "Birds of North America" account of Wilson's Snipe by Helmut Mueller: "Occasionally feeds by stamping feet or bouncing up and down, apparently to startle prey into moving. Can thus find prey near surface or in soils too hard for probing."  So, although I have never witnessed this foraging method, apparently it is known for snipe as well as woodcock.  Interesting reports Deborah and Linda.
