Apologies for this late posting after eBird flagged my Thursday sighting
(just filed this afternoon) of 66 Sandhill Cranes circling at midday Nov.
14, high above Denver City Park and the edge of downtown. I heard the
telltale rattle/bugle overhead of a few in the flock shortly before 1 p.m.
After circling for a couple of minutes, the birds regrouped and continued
south.

The Surf and Black Scoters continue this morning in the middle of the South
Platte Reservoir. They stayed very close to each other and dove together
most of the time. The Surf is a juvenile I guess since it has a white belly
and Sibley says all juvenile Scoters have white bellies. The Black is
either a juvenile or female because of the big white patch on the face.

Nice to have all 3 Scoters in this part of town.
