--On January 18 at Wadley Reservoir Adam Green reported Say's Phoebe.

---On January 20 at Barr Lake State Park, Bruce Snyder reported 1 Greater White-fronted Goose.

 

ARAPAHOE COUNTY:                                                                  

--On January 19, at Ketring Park Mary Geder, Diane Roberts and Rebecca LaRoche reported Hermit Thrush.

--On January 20, Ben Sampson reported continuing Barrow's Goldeneye.

--On January 20 at Inverness Golf Course Kay Rasmussen reported Say's Phoebe.

--On January 22 Frank Ferrell reported Winter Wren at 8413 E. Crescent Circle in Greenwood Village. Bird re-found by Steve Rash on January 24.

--On January 23, Steve Mlodinow reported 2 Greater Scaup, White-winged Scoter, Long-tailed Duck, California, Iceland, and Lesser Black-backed Gull  at Aurora Reservoir.

—On January 23 at South Platte Reservoir, White-winged Scoter and Yellow-billed Loon continue to be reported by mob.  The loon is also reported to drift to Jefferson County.

 

BENT COUNTY:

---On January 6 at John Martin Reservoir, Duane Nelson reported 1st cyc Glaucous Gull, 3 American White Pelicans, 2 Doube-crested Cormorants.  Best viewpoint is Overlook Point on the North side of the Reservoir.

—On January 13 Duane Nelson reported White-winged Scoter (f) viewed from one mile west of Overlook Point on the  North side at John Martin Reservoir. 

—On January 13 Duane Nelson reported 1st cyc Glaucous Gull from the East side of Overlook Point. Duane Nelson also reported many Lapland Longspurs flying overhead almost everywhere they stopped. On January 17 Jane Stulp reported Glaucous Gull, 1 Chihuahuan Raven, and 3 Lapland Longspur at John Martin Reservoir-Dam area. On January 17 Jane Stulp reported 2 Greater Roadrunner at Lake Hasty (lake and campground).

--On January 22, Janeal Thompson reported Greater Roadrunner at John Martin State Park.

 

BOULDER COUNTY:

--On January 17 at Walden Ponds, Lindsay Purifoy reported a Harris's Sparrow.

--On January 19 Mark Minner-Lee reported Greater White-fronted Goose at Waneka Reservoir.

--On January 19 at Twin Lakes, Leslie S. reported White-winged Dove.

--On January 20 at Boulder Reservoir many observers reported 2 Snowy Owl, not reported since.

--On January 22, David Chernack reported 2 Greater Scaup at Erie Reservoir.

 

DENVER COUNTY:

--On January 24 at First Creek Open Space Doug Kibbe reported Harris's Sparrow.

 

DELTA COUNTY:

--On January 20, Jon Horn reported 2 Greater White-fronted Geese at Confluence Park.

 

DOUGLAS COUNTY:

--On January 8 at Parker Regional Park (aka Salisbury Equestrian Park), Loch Kilpatrick, Dale Pate, and Diane Roberts reported BRANT.  Last report by Joe Roller and Joey Kellner on January 20.

--On January 20 at Parker Regional Park Tom and Debbie Behnfield reported 2 Greater Scaup.

--On January 24 at 10001 S. Oswego St., Jodi Chambers reported Say's Phoebe.

 

EAGLE COUNTY:

--On January 22 at Lake Creek Village Wetlands Marbry Hopkins reported American Pipit.

 

EL PASO COUNTY:

--On December 21 David Tonnessen reported RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER (ruber) on Miranda Road in Colorado Springs, most recently re-found by Ernie Bradley on January 19.

--On January 17 JoAnn Riggle and Linda Hodges most recently reported Varied Thrush at Starsmore Discovery Center.

--On January 20 along Hanover Road, Mark Chavez and mob. reported continuing Greater Roadrunner. 

--On January 21 at Red Rock Canyon Open Space, Jim Merritt reported a Harris's Sparrow.  Re-found by John Drummond on January 24.

--On January 24 at Memorial Park and Prospect Lake, Jim Merritt reported 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

--On January 22 at Carter Lake, Nick Komar, Andy Bankert and other observers reported Iceland, Iceland (Thayer's), California, Lesser Black-backed and Glaucous Gulls.

--On January 23 at Horsetooth Mountain Park, Arvind Panjabi reported 9 Common Redpoll.

--On January 24, Ronda Woodward reported Barrow's Goldeneye at Colorado River State Park, Fruita Section.

--On January 23 in Jefferson (town) Brian Johnson reported 4 Brown-capped Rosy-finches and 56 Gray-crowned Rosy-finches.

--On January 18 Janeal Thompson reported Northern Cardinal and Harris's Sparrow at Lamar Community College Woods.

 

PUEBLO COUNTY:

--On January 8 at Pueblo Reservoir South Marina tires, Brandon Percival reported Snowy Owl seen most recently on January 22 by Michael Shoop.

--On January 18 Adam Vesley reported 2 Rusty Blackbirds working the shoreline of the stream just oorth of the Cottonwood Picnic area parking lot at Pueblo State Park.

--On January 18, JoAnn Andrews reported Mew Gull at Rock Creek Area below the Pueblo Reservoir Dam.

--On January 18 at Pueblo Reservoir South Marina, Denise and Mark Vollmer reported Say's Phoebe.

--On January 18 along the Arkansas River Trail east of Pueblo Blvd., John Drummond reported Carolina Wren.  Re-found by Mihm-Dunning and Dowell on January 20.

--On January 20, Van Truan reported one Greater White-fronted Goose at Huerfano Reservoir.

--On January 23 at Pueblo Reservoir Wildlife Area David Tonnessen reported Red-necked Grebe.

--On January 24 at Pueblo Reservoir South Marina, Dale Pate report continuing Great Black-backed Gull.

--On January 24 Dale Pate reported continuing Prairie Warbler in Rock Canyon below the Pueblo Reservoir Dam.

 

 

SUMMIT COUNTY:

—On January 20 Phil Lyon reported continuing Barrow's Goldeneye at Silverthorne WTP.

 

WELD COUNTY:

--On January 19 Jim Nachel reported Trumpeter Swan at Rawhide Energy Station/Hamilton Reservoir, continuing since at least the Rawhide CBC in December.

--On January 23 at Frederick Reservoir and Recreation Area, Steve Mlodinow reported Greater White-fronted Goose, Barrow's Goldeneye.

Greenwood Gulch and Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve

Directions: Meet at the parking lot at Castlewood Park, 5601 East Orchard DRIVE (not Orchard Road) at its intersection

with South Holly St.; about .1 mile north of the intersection of Holly and Orchard Road. There is a portable toilet at the

parking lot.

The paved trail follows the Greenwood Gulch waterway northwest for .75 mile, then joins the dirt High

Line Canal Trail that surrounds the Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve. We'll walk a 1.5 mile loop along the High

Line and through the Preserve back to the Greenwood Gulch trail then return to our starting point. Total

distance is about 3 miles. The trails border cattail marshes, wet meadows, and the typical High Line riparian

strip. There are a couple of small ponds in the Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve at the northwest part of the loop.

Directions: Meet at Lowe's in Castle Rock near the outlet stores.. I-25 south, exit at Founders/Meadows Pkwy (exit 184),

turn right (west), then right on Santa Fe Dr (Hwy 85), then right on New Beale St. Exact address 1360 New Beale St,

Castle Rock, CO 80108

We will seek forest and mountain birds at Mueller, with possible Pygmy-Owl and Gray Jay, and look for

Rosy- finches at the nearby towns of Victor and Cripple Creek. Then we will make our way back via Road 87 to

Deckers and along the South Platte back toward Sedalia, birding as we go. Register online or contact leader.
