[cobirds] DFO 7pm Monday Jan.29: Garth Spellman & Rosy-Finches

Denver Field Ornithologists present Garth Spellman, Curator of Ornithology, Denver Museum of Nature & Science Monday Jan. 29. at 7pm.  Dr. Spellman will discuss a large collaborative research project that aims to address many unanswered questions about Rosy-Finch evolution, natural history, ecology, and conservation. The work involves extensive fieldwork across the Rosy-Finch range and employs old research methods, like banding and ecological surveys, with new methods, like genomics and isotopes. He will also share how DFO members can assist with the work and be part of the goal to preserve one of Colorado’s “endemic” birds.
DFO meetings are FREE and open to the public at Denver Museum of Nature & Science.  Park on the north side of the building (20th & Colorado Blvd) and enter through the north security door between 6:30 and 7pm..
