It was my busiest banding day this season at Clear Spring Ranch, despite the early winds, heat, and smoke. Very Dry right now.
Highlights were an ad Least Flycatcher, a juv Willow Flycatcher, an ad Clay-Colored Sparrow, a late Yellow Warbler (I've only had 5 after this date in 5 seasons), a couple Wilson's Warblers, Yellowthroats, and catbirds, and a pile of Chipping Sparrows. 43 birds banded today.
Yellow Warblers are about done, like I said, I had a Lazuli Bunting juv f (only 5 after this date also), Lincoln's Sparrows are starting to arrive in numbers, and I had my first Gambell's White-crowned Sparrow (juv) yesterday. Some birds are finishing, some are just starting migration!
Have a good Labor Day,
Steve Brown
