Hi All,
Perhaps of interest, I found an immature male Orchard Oriole in Buena Vista this afternoon, along the 'Peaks View Trail' in the grove of trees just SE of S Pleasant Ave, appx 200ft from the trail. This appears to be the 2nd eBird record for Chaffee, and one of only a few for the central mountains.
I've linked my eBird checklist here, which includes a low-quality photo that I will replace when I get the chance. http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S37297570

[cobirds] Weld County rarities
My brother and I went to the west edge of Windsor to look for the Black Phoebe
previously reported by Gary Lefko. It was calling and foraging about 60 yards
downstream from the bridge over the Poudre River along County Road 13 at
the Frank Wildlife area. It was in a small sapling over the river's edge alongside
a larger standing dead tree.
At least one of the Snowy Plovers continues on the north side of Union Res.
It was seen about 100 yards to the east of the extreme northwest corner,
along the water's edge sometimes hiding behind a clump of dirt.

[cobirds] RFI: Anyone checked LCR 5 area for Baird's Sparrow this year?
Hi all,
-- I was wondering if anyone checked Larimer Couty Road 5 (east of Rawhide) for Baird's Sparrow yet this year? They were there in 2015. Any other places to look for them within a shortish drive of Denver?
I'd love to go look for Baird's Sparrows this week, but can't quite convince my 5 1/2 year old to make the hike to see the Soapstone birds ;)
Thanks!

[cobirds] Black Phoebe/Windsor
Hi all
I birded Frank SWA and adjacent Poudre River Trail in Windsor on Sunday and found a singing Black Phoebe at the bridge near parking lot. It performed for me at the dead tree along river as you start walking the dirt trail of Frank SWA. It "fly-catched" numerous times above the Poudre River as well returning to the perch.

[cobirds] Russel Lakes State Wildlife Area (Saguache Co.)
I made a quick stop just after noon yesterday on U.S. Hwy 285 (The Gunbarrel) about 10 miles south of Saguache; there was a pair of WESTERN TANAGERs in the cottonwood trees in the parking lot, and an AMERICAN BITTERN in the wetland near the highway (usually making itself somewhat visible with a spotting scope). Also:
WHITE-FACED IBIS
BLACK-NECKED STILT
AMERICAN AVOCET
SNOWY EGRET
in the wetlands, along with 8 species of ducks, AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN and WESTERN GREBE.
There was also a juvenile KILLDEER (that looks like a different plover species), and a bat skimming the water's surface, capturing insects, and occasionally skimming water to drink.

Hi everyone,Would someone be so kind as to post here to the whole group (so as not to inundate me personally by email with redundant information in case several people know) what the last 5 or so new species additions to the official CO state checklist were, that brought the total to 502? I maintain my own personal database of sightings and my checklist shows 501, and I can't figure out which species the list is missing! It was last consistent with the official checklist at 499. I think.Thank you in advance!Eric-------Eric DeFonso
