[cobirds] Willow Creek & environs, Lamar, Prowers County, Feb. 19

Hello, Birders.

Nice birds yesterday, Friday, Feb. 19, along Willow Creek in Lamar, Prowers County. Participants in field trips with the High Plains Snow Goose Festival birded from the south end of Lamar Community College north to the playgrounds in Willow Creek Park. Our highlights: 30 scaled quail, 2 sharp-shinned hawks, 1 Cooper hawk, 2 red-bellied woodpeckers, 1 prairie merlin, 2 Carolina [white-breasted] nuthatches, 2 ruby-crowned kinglets, 2 eastern bluebirds, 1 Townsend solitaire, 15 cedar waxwings, 18 myrtle warblers, 1 Audubon warbler, 2 white-throated sparrows, 3 northern cardinals, 20 great-tailed grackles, 15 pine siskins, and 3 lesser goldfinches.

Takamine-compliant eBird checklist with photos and audio here:

(By the way, I agree with Joyce on nomenclature for eBird locations.)

On a non-avian note, several mourning cloaks were out and about.
