COBirders,
Today, Tyler Stuart and I birded some areas in SW El Paso Cnty seeking a roadrunner – nope! But we did find a singing Bewick’s Wren in Aiken Canyon. It was about 0.5 km up the trail in oak-pinon-juniper habitat before getting into the canyon. Also had a number of Juniper Titmice.
Ice at Big Johnson continues to recede, and tons of ducks are moving-in. As far as we could tell every gull there at 1:00 PM today (many, many hundreds) was ring-billed. We didn’t see Long-tailed Duck, but the heat waves off dam and ice made it very difficult to see open water on northern side.
Best
