John Rutenbeck and I were also at Cherry Creek on the 9th and saw only the female Black Scoter but could have easily missed the male from that distance. In addition, I snapped a few pics of a very distant Pacific Loon and the best one can be seen here.
We were struck by how prominently the gray hind neck could be seen from this distance. This photo is also heavily cropped.
