Please allow me to interrupt your regularly scheduled programming for an
out of state birding advertisement from a non-profit organization in an
adjacent state. This is the same message that I posted to the Kansas
listserv this evening. It is close enough to Colorado that a few might
actually be interested. That is if you can overcome the deep aversion
to crossing state lines that so many birders have ingrained in their
DNA, especially most sub-species of listers. Again, this is not
directly related to Colorado birds so pardon any annoyance this may have
triggered.
best regards

Planning for the Kansas Ornithological Society's 2013 Spring Meeting is
complete and the information is available on the internet at the
following URL:
http://ksbirds.org/kos/KOS_Spring_Meeting_2013.pdf
The trip leaders will include Nic Allen, Henry Armknecht , Matt
Gearheart, Kevin Groeneweg, Mike Rader, Scott Seltman and myself. The
planning committee is composed of Terry Mannell, Lisa Weeks and myself.
This is a seldom-birded area of Kansas, especially during the peak of
spring migration. The potential for adding new species to a number of
Kansas county lists is high. If your impression of NW Kansas is based
on a vaguely recalled drive through the state on I-70, you will be
surprised at how visually appealing the northern tiers of counties can
be. We have scheduled it in mid-month to avoid any repeat of the
legendary spring meeting blizzard at Goodland a few years back. (Gotta
admit the birds were pretty good on that trip though). This meeting
will also feature a re-creation of "Wedding Crashers" as we will be
splitting the American Legion Hall with a Catholic wedding and open
bar. This alone should be reason enough to immediately ante up your
registration and send it in. There is an event-specific t-shirt
available by PRE-ORDER ONLY with wonderful artwork created by Dan Kilby
specifically for this event. You do NOT have attend the meeting to
order a t-shirt.
I encourage all to to attend. If you have additional questions not
addressed at the internet site please contact me at your convenience.
Thanks
