Keep an eye on your mailbox! CFO members and others on our mailing list should soon see the brochure advertising this year’s convention in Cortez, May 16-19. We then hope to open on-line convention registration sometime this weekend through the CFO website http://cfobirds.org/ The website already gives contact information for making a reservation at our host lodgings—the Baymont Inn and Suites in Cortez. You can make your lodging reservations right now at our special rates by phoning and asking for the CFO convention rate.
One special feature that will be available on the CFO convention page at the website will be a set of Google map links that you can click to get some idea of where various convention trips will be heading. (Of course these descriptions can’t be precise without knowing weather conditions or bird availability in May.) In addition trip listings will be coded to bring your attention to trips that involve a fair amount of driving or hiking.
I hope to see you at this year’s convention. Once again we will have a welcome picnic on Thursday evening; the Saturday night convention banquet will feature John Vanderpoel and his “Full Chase Mode” description of his 2011 Big Year; we will have paper sessions and the ID Challenge as well. Come join your birding friends.
