Hey, Cobirders,
-- A friend outside of Divide in Teller County has had a Scaled Quail hanging around his house since October (at around 9,000'). He had told me about it a while ago but he thought it was a Blue/Dusky Grouse--so I didn't get too excited about it until he shared a few pics with me today (below). I don't think I see any records for Scaled Quail in Teller... or am I wrong?
I've seen them in southeast El Paso county on my breeding bird survey, but the furthest up & west I've seen one was on Mesa Rd just northeast of Garden of the Gods Park, at around 6,000' in CO Spgs. (I used to live in Teller, and have spent a lot of time there but have never seen one up there.)
What do ya think?
