Re: [cobirds] Crowley County [and Boulder County gets in on the action, too]

Hey, all.

No rarities to report, but if you're thinking of looking for birds near Ordway, Sugar City, or Lake Meredith you might want to wait a while. Crowley County is the worse county in the U.S. for the past week for covid-19, per capita. Bent County also in the top ten.

Prophetic words in my Aug. 26, 2020, post from the Arkansas River Valley of se. Colo.:

It was a fun, long day. The smoke was terrible. The hunting license thing is real, affecting, for example, access to some of our favorite spots at John Martin Reservoir, which we couldn't visit. Except for one mask-wearing jogger and the one mask-wearing birder we crossed paths with, the region is utterly non-compliant with CDC guidelines. And we were very nearly killed by a semi in the wrong lane near Wild Horse; always be alert out there.

Like, we didn't see the current public health catastrophe from a mile away (or from 3+ months out). Wear masks while birding. Always. No exceptions, no exemptions.

(It's not just se. Colorado. I was disappointed to see some anti-maskers at the Boulder County Red-bellied Woodpecker stakeout a week ago.)
