Today (1/12/2019), at deKoevend Park (Arapahoe) were many sledders and dogs enjoying the snow. Also, at a residential feeder, along the High Line Canal (east and north of the park) were a duo of Pine Siskin, a Lesser Goldfinch, and many House Finches. This is the first winter of the three I've spent in Centennial (small sample, obviously) during which siskin have been regulars. I've had them in my neighborhood a few times and on both Denver CBCs.
-- Also along the trail, but now on the western side of deKoevend, was a White-throated Sparrow with a flock of juncos. All were near the deKoevend "Tot Lot," where a drainage ditch brought runoff into the canal. This was my first White-throated at deKoevend and also my non-towhee/junco/Song-type sparrow of 2019. A third siskin called from this area, as well.
