ADAMS COUNTY:

—On January 21 a Mew Gull was reported at Hwy 224 & 68th. First reported by Gabriel Wiltse on January 21.


ARAPAHOE COUNTY:

---On January 23 a (f) Black Scoter was reported at South Platte Reservoir. First reported on November 10 by James McCall.


BOULDER COUNTY:

---On January 26 a Varied Thrush was reported at Pleasant View Marsh. First reported by Ernest Crvich January 23.

---On January 19 a Brant (Black) was reported at Stearns Lake. First reported by Dan Zmolek on January 5.

*Note, this is a different Brant than the one reported above in nearby Broomfield County. Both birds have been seen concurrently. 


BROOMFIELD COUNTY:

---On January 20 a Brant (Black) was reported at Glasser Reservoir/Holy Family High School Reservoir, at the intersection of 144th and Sheridan. First reported by David Ely on January 6.

*Note, this is a different Brant than the one reported above in nearby Boulder County. Both birds have been seen concurrently. 

 

CONEJOS COUNTY:

—On January 20 (400+) Rosy Finches were reported at the feeders of Susan Hochstetler's home, south of Monte Visa NWR. They are primarily Brown-capped with 8-10 Black and a few Gray-crowned. She is located 7 miles south of the Monte Vista Refuge and welcomes birders to stop by. To get there, go south on CO 15 and when the pavement ends at the 12S, continue south for 1 mile. Her place is second on the left, about a mile south of the end of pavement. Susan welcomes birders and please consider helping her out with a donation. She said she goes through 10-11 gallons of feed per day!


DENVER COUNTY:

---On January 26 (4) Rusty Blackbirds were reported at First Creek at DEN Open Space. (6) birds were first reported on the Denver Urban Christmas Count on January 1.

---On January 26 a Winter Wren was reported at Denver Zoo. First reported by Brooks Bennett on January 26.


EL PASO COUNTY:

—On January 25 a Field Sparrow was reported at Red Rock Canyon Open Space. First reported by Jim Merritt on December 19.

—On January 21 a mixed flock of Gray-crowned and Black Rosy Finches was reported at Rainbow Gulch Trail. First reported by Jan Allbright on January 17.


FREMONT:

—On January 23 a Field Sparrow was reported at Brush Hollow Reservoir. First reported by Jerry DeBoer on January 23.


JEFFERSON COUNTY:

---On January 26 a (Red) Fox Sparrow was reported at Red Rock Trading Post. First reported by Cheryl Teuton on Nov 30.

—On January 23 a White-winged Scoter was first reported at Welton Reservoir by Eric DeFonso on January 20.

---On January 23 a Winter Wren was reported at Ralston Creek. First reported by James McCall on January 23.

—On January 23 a Winter Wren was reported at Bear Creek Greenbelt. First reported by Chris Woods on December 13.

—On January 21 a Golden Crowned Sparrow was reported in Morrison on 2nd Street. Visitors are required to stay on the road and not wander onto the private parking lot just south of his house.

---On January 19 a mixed flock of Gray-crowned, Brown-capped and Black Rosy Finches was reported at the vicinity around the home of Kirsten WItherell and/or at her backyard feeders at 19640 W 55th Pl., Golden. For permission to visit the feeders, please text her at (720) 372-0833 so she can give you more details.


LARIMER COUNTY:

*NOTE, If you visit the Larimer County Landfill be sure to check in at one of the pay windows (or the main office) and follow instructions for parking from landfill employees.

—On January 23 a GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL at Warren Lake first reported by Josh Bruening.

---On January 23 a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker at Grandview Cemetery. First reported by David Leatherman on January 8, just out on the golf course, east of the big gray porta-potty.

—On January 19 a (f) Northern Cardinal was reported by Steve Martin at his home SW of Wellington. It has been visiting his feeders since July. Email for current status and directions  falconridge AT cowisp.net.  If Steve is home, birders are welcome to come into the house for comfortable, close viewing, or, alternatively if nobody is home, to sit on a bench that faces the area the bird comes in to.  First reported on July 23, 2018.


 PUEBLO COUNTY:

—On January 26 a Carolina Wren was reported at the Arkansas River Trail, east of Pueblo Blvd. First reported January 3 by Brandon Percival.

—On January 26 a Trumpeter Swan was reported at Valco Ponds SWA first reported by Al Garner on January 15.

—On January 26 a White-winged Scoter was reported at Pond at 29th Lane and South Rd. First reported by MaryLynne Ketcham on January 26.

—On January 22 a Mew Gull was reported at Pueblo Reservoir. First reported by Kara Carrager and Brandon Percival January 19.

—On January 19 a Long-tailed Duck was reported at Pueblo Reservoir. First reported by Kara Carragher on January 1.

—On January 19 a Red-necked Grebe was reported at Pueblo Reservoir. First reported by Van Truan December 15.

---Note, a Great Black-backed Gull is often reported at Pueblo Reservoir, where it has wintered for many years.


TELLER COUNTY:

---On January 21 a mixed flock of Gray-crowned, Brown-capped and Black Rosy Finches was first reported by David Suddjian on his DFO field trip in Goldfield at a feeder north side of town on January 21.


WASHINGTON COUNRY:

 ---On January 21 a Rusty Blackbird was at Merino. First reported by Norm Erthal on January 21.


WELD COUNTY:

—On January 26 a Glaucous Gull at Windsor Lake first reported by Ryan Graves on January 26.

---On January 26 a Long-tailed Duck at Milavec Reservoir. First reported by Steve Mlodinow on November 22.

---On January 26 a PINK-FOOTED GOOSE in the vicinity of Frederick Lake (Milavec Reservoir) & Recreation Area.  At times it moves to the adjacent golf course, but can be seen from Milavec. First reported by Steve Mlodinow at a nearby location on December 11. This would be a first state record if approved by the CBRC. The CBRC has not reviewed this bird yet and it will likely take several months for their meticulous review process to be completed.
