[cobirds] Stearns Lake, Boulder Co

All,

The Black Brant flew into Stearns Lake in southeast Boulder Co from the south at about 11:30.  Was picked out in flight and identified by a very competent young lady named Mary (didn't get her last name).

Also present was the very interesting and beautiful goose that has been there a while.  Photo from last Sunday by Leslie Sutton. I'm not sure whether this is a Ross's/Cackling hybrid or whether its parents are a blue phase and white phase Ross's Goose.  The back is much darker than on all the other hybrids including Cackling Geese that I have seen this winter.

Peter Gent,  Boulder.
