Northern Harrier- Near Divide on 12-1 and 12-6
Downy Woodpecker- 1 on 12-5, 12-8, 12-11, 12-13, 12-14
Northern Three-toed Woodpecker- 12-23, Bear Creek Regional Park, old sign of drilling on tree
Steller's Jay- 4 on 12-21, 6 on 12-22, and a couple of December reports from Austin Bluffs area of Colorado Springs.
Clark's Nutcracker- 2 along Lovell Gulch Loop Trail on 12-1 and 12-10
Townsend's Solitaire- End of month heard regular at Highline Canal Trail in Englewood.
Mountain Chickadee- 2+ on Highline Canal Trail in Englewood on 12-31 nad 1-1.
Bushtit- Flock of about 10 at Starsmore Discovery Center on 12-2. Small flock at parents' house in Englewood on 1-2.
Golden-crowned Kinglet- 12-23, Bear Creek Regional Park
Pygmy Nuthatch- Flock of about 6 at Starsmore Discovery Center on 12-2. Small flock on Highline Canal Trail in Englewood on 12-28.
Red-breasted Nuthatch- occasional in yard area. End of month seen and heard regular at parents' house and Highline Canal Trail in Englewood.
White-breasted Nuthatch- End of month seen and heard regular at parents' house and Highline Canal Trail in Englewood.
Brown Creeper- 1 along Lovell Gulch Loop Trail on 12-1, 2 on Barr Camp Trail on 12-10. Highline Canal Trail and parents house in in Englewood on 12-31 and 1-1.
Canyon Wren- 1 calling near St. Mary's Falls on 12-2, 1 calling on Barr Camp Trail on 12-10
Cedar Waxwing- Highline Canal Trail , 8 on 1-2
Spotted Towhee- End of month seen and heard regular on Highline Canal
Dark-eyed Junco- Off and on through month had all 5 subspecies in yard area, and high count of White-winged was 9 on 12-13. Flock of 20 with all 5 subspecies along the Lovell Gulch Creek Trail on 12-1. Pink-sided and Oregon at parents house in Englewood end of month.
Evening Grosbeak- 1 on 12-4, 12-8
Pine Siskin- 1 on 12-5, 12-8, 12-22
American Goldfinch- A few on Highline Canal Trail in Englewood on 1-1.
Cassin's Finch- Good numbers in the yard area through month, often flocks of 12 to 18. Like with many species this year it appears due to the wet summer it was a good breeding year. Sightings last year in yard area were sporadic. On average about 80 percent of the birds were female/first year plumage.
House Sparrow- Yard Area- flock of about 10 on 12-1, 12-5, 1F on 12-15
