Hey COBirders,
With all of the reports of Red Crossbills along the Front Range this month, I thought I should add my sighting to the record. We just had 15 crossbills high in an aspen in the yard, in NW Colo Spgs. None have come to the feeders yet. These are the first I've seen here since the irruption in 1997 (when they stayed for over a month).
Quite a month here for mountain species. Evening Grosbeaks, Cassin's Finches, Pine Siskins, all three Nuthatches, a huge influx of Mountain Chickadees, Townsend's Solitaire, and I've banded 7 Steller's Jays (previously 3 in five years), with more unbanded ones still coming to the feeders.
What a fun November!
