Birded with Mark Peterson and Glenn Walbek today in Park and Teller
Counties. We saw the Snow Bunting at Elevenmile Reservoir (Park
County), where Nick Moore found it yesterday, with a large flock of
Horned Larks and a few Lapland Longspurs (we heard another Snow
Bunting, flying over, at another spot at Elevenmile Reservoir, so
there are at least two around the area). Other highlights from
Elevenmile Reservoir were 5 Surf Scoters, 1 White-winged Scoter, 1
Long-taled Duck, 1 Pacific Loon, 1 Common Loon. Also, we saw an adult
Northern Goshawk in Park County, on the way to Elevenmile Reservoir.
At Manitou Lake (Teller County), we saw the male White-winged Scoter
that Robb Hinds found earlier in the day.
Good birding,
