[cobirds] South Valley Park (JeffCo) and Ketring Park (Arapahoe) May 8

A view of Mann Reservoir in South Valley Park on my way to work this morning produced 2 female Red-necked Phalaropes, 3 newly arrived female Buffleheads, and a newly arrived female Hooded Merganser. The phalaropes and merganser are rare for that body of water. When I looked again in the late afternoon they were all absent.

Ketring Park had a moderate smattering of waterbirds of no special note. A fast moving warbler flock in the cottonwoods was mostly the two Yellow-rumped forms, but also contained a male Tennessee Warbler, a Yellow and some Orange-crowneds. Other warblers outside that flock were a female Common Yellowthroat and a Wilson's, and there was a Gray Catbird. A Western Tanager called unseen from on high. Three Red-breasted Nuthatches were also noted.

Two Ospreys passed over Santa Fe heading toward South Platte Park.
