So, at 9:54am this morning, I was at the pool below Pueblo Reservoir dam, about ready to leave and go home after seeing the 40 or so Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches, when a juvenile BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE comes flying right over my head. I wasn't ready for it, so when bird was close, I wasn't able to get good photos. Then headed south, though I was hoping it was going to the Reservoir. So, I went over the South Shore Marina, and there it was on the water, behind the tires. I saw it for like five minutes, and then it flew toward the dam, and circled back to the South Marina. So, I thought, okay, I can get closer to the tires, and get some closer photos. So, I drove down there, and no kittiwake to be found. My last photos when it coming back into the tires were at 10:22am. This was the last sighting, as far as I know. Many people were present not long after, and no one was seeing it.
Other birds of note on Pueblo Reservoir today were: the adult Great Black-backed and several Lesser Black-backed Gulls, a male Barrow's Goldeneye, a Red-necked Grebe, a few Common Loons, and a quite a few Bonaparte's Gulls.
While walking along the River, below Pueblo City Park, I saw three White-throated Sparrows and six Evening Grosbeaks. I should have birded more in Pueblo City Park, as another birder saw a female plumage Purple Finch along the Frisbee Creek, with Yellow-rumped Warblers and juncos this morning.
