Here's an article on the unusual and compelling Mountain Plover Festival, held each spring in Karval, Lincoln County:
A few Boulder County birds and such:
Yesterday morning, Saturday, July 6th, I couldn't find any Cassin's Sparrows on the far east side of the Coalton Open Space, Boulder County, but there were many Grasshopper Sparrows. Also a nice Prairie Falcon and a Common Nighthawk.
Yesterday evening, Hannah and Andrew and their friends and I found more fireflies around Boulder Creek at White Rocks than I've ever seen there or, for that matter, anywhere in Colorado. If you go for the fireflies (they're truly impressive), remember to leave the parking area by 11pm. Or, perhaps better yet, just park somewhere else and walk in.
