[cobirds] Indigo Bunting - BCLP - Jeffco

Good morning All,

Took a short walk along the Cottonwood Trail in Bear Creek Lake Park (BCLP) this morning and saw a male Indigo Bunting. Rob Raker and I believe they are nesting in BCLP, as we have seen them several times along Bear Creek this summer in the same location and on several different occasions. This morning I was walking along the Cottonwood Trail, which starts at the NE corner of the gravel parking lot above Pelican Point, and follows Bear Creek upstream. Look for them once you cross the small footbridge and start walking west along Bear Creek.

The Cooper's Hawks in the same area have fledged and are making short flights. Saw the female bring in some prey, drop it in the nest, and then two youngsters come back to the nest to feed. Both youngsters took short flights after feeding.
